He is the recipient of the Burleigh Smith Scholarship, named for the former television reporter in Bakersfield. 2006-2007 Scholarship Recipients Lizbeth Juarez, a student at Cal State Bakersfield who graduated from Bakersfield College and Bakersfield High School. Ian Hamilton, a student at Cal State Fullerton who studied at Bakersfield College and graduated from Tehachapi High School. Julianna Crisalli, a student at Cal State Fullerton who studied at Bakersfield College and graduated from Tehachapi High School. She is the recipient of the Mary K.
